Hughes

Proficient in curating change culture and service transformation, Abby is an experienced NHS operations lead dedicated to advocating for patients.

Transferring her expertise, Abby has acted as a patient access consultant for Drug Science’s Project Twenty21, Europe's largest medicinal cannabis registry evidencing safety and efficacy.

A co-founder of PlantEd Collective, she is interested in the integration of evidence-based plant medicine within mainstream healthcare, particularly in the areas of chronic pain, mental health and neurodiversity.

Abby lives with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome and a host of associated co-morbidities including fibromyalgia and POTS. Finding out at age 32 that she is autistic and has ADHD, she is now looking at life through a new lens.

A committed volunteer in the medicinal cannabis sector for over 9 years, Abby is the director of PLEA.

Martha Allitt

Martha works for the UK Psychedelic Society where she liaises with a host of different drug policy reform groups and medical patients negatively impacted by the war on drugs.

Working with such groups and with a background in Neuroscience providing her a scientific and evidence-based focus, Martha is motivated to push better access of in-need patients to medical cannabis and other scheduled plant-based medicines.

A content curator for the Psychedelic Renaissance, her writing intends to educate the wider public about various scientific and cultural issues surrounding cannabis and other psychedelics.

Martha has previously worked in public engagement, with a passion to bridge the gap between medical research and knowledge of patients being affected by such research.

Concerned with spreading harm-reduction education around different drugs, Martha is a proud volunteer for Psycare UK.

Ryan Khan

An advocate of drug policy reform and health equity, Ryan is proud to assist PLEA in ensuring medicinal cannabis is accessible for all those who may benefit.

Studying an undergraduate degree in Human Physiology, Ryan became accustomed to the medical and therapeutic properties of cannabis through his extra-curricular research and was shocked to discover the inaccessibility of this medicine within the UK. 

Having worked with organisations such as Students for Global Health, Students for Sensible Drug Policy and Drug Science, Ryan wants to see the endocannabinoid system integrated into medical education and support PLEA in advancing UK Medicinal Cannabis policy through educating the public on the prospective medicinal benefits of cannabis.

PLEA are delighted to welcome Ryan as a member of our Support Team.

 

As a non-profit organisation, PLEA will only invest in projects that address accelerating access to prescribed CBMPs. We shall advocate for the patient community whilst remaining impartial and are not incentivised, influenced or motivated by financial gain. Our resources are offered to patients free of charge.
